For many, homesteading seems like a tranquil and idyllic life full of one Instagram-worthy moment after another. Sunny days with clear skies, green grass… happy goats, beautiful chickens, and warm biscuits with homemade jam.
Homesteading is indeed a very delightful lifestyle. Except for when it isn’t – which is more frequent than we expected.
It doesn’t take very long for these romantic notions of homesteading to be surpassed by realities that aren’t always palatable.
Cold and rainy dreary days…
See… in reality, homesteading is in a word, hard.
There are reasons that culture has moved away from agrarian lifestyles toward much easier lifestyles. Homesteading is not for the faint of heart or those without initiative.
When we thought through what to call our web site and social media accounts, we thought “what one word conveys the spirit of what we’ve needed to be about around here?”
And so… “intrepid” seemed most fitting.
We’ve learned and continued to be intrepid – as a family and as individuals. It has not been an easy road, but it has and continues to be an agent for the transformation of our hearts, minds, and characters into those with the intrepid qualities we’re learning to grow in as a result.
